He later founded the Sekisui-sanbo painting school in Tokyo, continuing the tradition of teaching and painting until his death at age 45 in 1917. He exhibited regularly, and his prestige as a painter leads us to believe that his somewhat early death may have come some time soon after his last recognition in exhibition (1926).
